At 8.15 am we leave from you hotel and drive through Santiago towards Cajon del Maipo and after 50 minutes reach the small locality called El Manzano, where our vehicle will park at the entrance of the climbing area.

In El Manzano the guide(s) will assign the climbing gear, you will try the climbing shoes and prepare your small backpack for the day. The box lunch and water will be distributed as well.

Daypacks, climbing shoes, sunglasses, sunhat, wind jackets and trekking poles will be available for the participants to take in case they haven’t bring their own.

Before leaving, hot tea and coffee will be served.

When you are ready to go, our hike starts, following an easy trail in the native forest. The guide will tell you all about the area, the forest, the rock climbing development in El Manzano, and the features of the kind of rock you will be climbing.

After 30 to 40 minutes hiking, gaining 200 meters, we arrive at the base of the climbing cliff. The guide(s) will choose the right area where to start the climbing day, according to the climbing level of the participants.

Next you will put on your harness, learn or re-learn the basic knots, learn how to use the rope and the belaying devices.

The guide(s) will install ropes in the selected routes the real fun will start, as you will be alternatively climbing and belaying your partner, under the supervision of the guide(s).

Lately in the day, the group may decide to move to a different sector of the climbing area, looking for more challenging and different routes.

From time to time there will be breaks to rest, eat and drink and share your impressions and comments with the guide(s).

According to your progress and your climbing level, the guide(s) may decide you are ready to lead a route and you may accept or refuse the challenge. Anyway the day will be filled with fun and a little bit of adrenaline!
